CONFORMATION

The official term for dog shows is Conformation — as in, the act of conforming or producing conformity. While a dog show may look like a beauty pageant, it’s not. Dogs are not being compared to each other; they’re being measured by how closely they conform to the standard of their particular breed. Why?

Because the closer a dog’s appearance is to the breed’s standard, the better that dog’s ability will be to produce puppies that meet the standard. It’s also the reason why mixed breeds and spayed or neutered purebreds are ineligible to compete in conformation.

My instruction is designed to help you prepare both yourself and your purebred dog to show in AKC Dog Show Conformation events in breed competition. Learning how to present and show your dog as a handler is as critical as having a good quality dog who is both confident and properly trained to perform in the show ring, showing off his assets to the judge with ease and grace.

I will not only teach you how to gait and stack your dog, but also all the rules and etiquette of the conformation ring, what the judge expects and how to present your dog in the best possible way.  Skills included are: leash handling, dog not paying attention to food on the floor, solid stacks during exam, confidence during the exam, correct gaiting movement, stacking, and more.

It takes a knowledgeable handler combined with a good dog to be a winning team!
